The desert circuit consists three districts Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Bikaner in western Rajasthan rising in the golden sands of the Thar Desert. The major tourist destinations in these districts are Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Bikaner (commonly called as the Desert Triangle ) and now increasingly the desert town of Barmer. Jodhpur exists on the edge of this arid tract and it is a link between the desert on the west and the semi-arid but cultivable regions to the East. जैसलमेर जिले में स्थानीय लोकदेवता (खेतपाल जी) क्षेत्रपाल जी का अनूठा मंदिर जिला मुख्यालय से छ किलोमीटर दूर स्थित हैं, जहां स्थानीय निवासी शादी के बाद विवाह का सूत्रबंधन (स्थानीय भाषा में कांकण डोरड़ा) खोलने आते हैं । इस मंदिर में अब तक लाखों की संख्या में दूल्हा-दुल्हन धोक देकर कांकण डोरा खोल चुके हैं । इस मंदिर की विशेष बात यह है कि यहाँ परम्परागत रूप से पूजा माली जाति की महिलाएं करती हैं । महिला दूल्हा-दुल्हन से विधिवत पूजा-पाठ पुजारी कराती हैं तथा पूजा-पाठ के बाद क्षेत्रपाल को साक्षी मान कर नवदम्पति के विवाह सूत्र-बंधन खोले जाते हैं , ताकि क्षेत्रपाल की मेहर ताउम्र दूल्हा दुल्हन पर बनी रहे । जैसलमेर राज्य की स्थापना के यह परंपरा शुरू हुई थी तथा सैंकड़ो वर्षों से चल रही परम्परा आज भी निर्विवाद रूप से चल रही हैं । इस मंदिर में जैसलमेर के हर जाति व धर्म के स्थानीय निवासी माथा टेकते हैं । क्षेत्रपाल को श्रृद्धालु इच्छानुसार सवा किलो से ले कर सवा मन तक का चूरमा का भोग देते हैं । जैसलमेर में प्रत्येक जाति व धर्म में होने वाली शादी के बाद तीसरे या चौथे दि
